Diatomite tips
Time:2022-01-05    Source:    Views:1220

Diatoms are single celled aquatic plants (algae) that lived in water hundreds of thousands of years ago. They create 70% of the oxygen on earth. During the growth process, it continuously absorbs the free silicon in the water to form a solid and porous cell wall. After the end of the diatom life cycle, the cell wall will not decompose and deposit to the underwater bottom. Diatomite is formed through crustal changes.

Diatomite is mainly distributed in the United States, China, Denmark, France and other countries. China's diatomite has proven reserves of 320 million tons. High quality soil is mainly concentrated in Changbai Mountain Area of Jilin Province, accounting for about 2 / 3 of the country. Most of other deposits are grade 3 ~ 4 soil. Due to the high content of impurities, it can not be directly processed and utilized. The main mineral composition of diatomite is opal. Under the electron microscope, it looks like a honeycomb, with a loose density of 0.3-0.5g/cm3 and a Mohs hardness of 1 ~ 1.5. It is a poor conductor of heat, electricity and sound, with a melting point of more than 1300 ° C and high chemical stability. It is this outstanding chemical and physical properties that determine that diatomite products diatom mud have good plasticity and safety.

Diatom mud has only a melting point and no ignition point, and the melting point is above 1300 ℃ like diatomite, so it is very safe for large places and home decoration, and can effectively avoid fire. At the same time, diatom mud inherits the advantages of diatomite and is a poor conductor of heat, electricity and sound, so it has the effects of thermal insulation, sound absorption and noise reduction. It is an ideal interior decoration material.
