Diatomite deposits in China are non marine deposits, mainly freshwater lacustrine deposits. The formation and distribution of diatomite deposits in many areas are closely related to volcanic activity (basalt) since Cenozoic.
More than 70 diatomite mines have been explored in 14 provinces of China, forming a tripartite situation with Jilin, Zhejiang and Yunnan. A large amount of diatomite is stored in the eastern coast, western Xinjiang, northern Heilongjiang, southern Guangdong and Hainan, central Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shandong and Sichuan. Except that the Changbaishan mine in Jilin is of good quality, the original soil in China is of medium and low grade.
It is well known that diatomite mud developed by scientific technology is used in decoration industry. In fact, the application of diatomite is far from decoration industry, but also includes food, medical treatment, sewage treatment and agriculture.
The most widely used in agriculture is as filler of pesticide and compound fertilizer. As a soil conditioner for flowers, it can regulate the moisture and air in the soil, prevent moldy roots, rotten roots and sun exposure death, and promote the effective growth of flowers. The application of diatomite as pesticide powder filler has the advantages of neutral pH value, non toxicity, good suspension performance, strong adsorption performance, light bulk weight, 135% oil absorption rate, fineness of 325 mesh - 500 mesh, good mixing uniformity, heat preservation, loosening soil, prolonging drug effect, fertilizer effect time, improving soil and promoting crop growth. There are many application fields not mentioned here. The benefits of diatom mud made of such excellent materials are self-evident.
