Mombasa Nairobi railway is the first railway built in Kenya in a hundred years. It is the beginning of the construction of railway network connecting six countries in East Africa. It will be constructed entirely in accordance with Chinese technical standards. As the initial section of the East African railway network, Mombasa Nairobi railway has a total length of about 480km, a design capacity of 25 million tons and a planned construction period of 5 years. Mombasa Nairobi railway adopts the "first-class standard of China's national railway" to connect Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and Mombasa port, the largest port in East Africa. According to the long-term plan, the railway will connect 6 countries in East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sultan, with a total length of 2700 km, with a total estimated cost of $25 billion.
